If you want your website or content to appear in Google search results, setting up Google Search Console is a must. It’s a free tool that helps monitor your site’s performance, troubleshoot issues, and understand how Google views your site.
Use this guide to set up your Google Search Console account:
1. Sign Up for Google Search Console
Go to Google Search Console.
Sign in with your Google account. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to create it first.
2. Add Website to Search Console
Once signed in, click the “Add Property” button.
You can add the website in two ways:-
1. Domain: Covers all URLs across subdomains (e.g., example.com, blog.example.com(Recommended)).
2. URL Prefix: Tracks a specific URL path (e.g., https://example.com).
3. Verify Your Ownership
Google requires verification to confirm you own the site. You can verify your website through:
- DNS Verification (Preferred for Domain properties):
- HTML File (For URL Prefix properties):
- Other Options: Include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or meta tag verification, depending on what’s already set up for your site.
